The Benefits of Dental Bridges

Restored Functionality

One of the major benefits of dental bridges is the restoration of functionality. Missing teeth can make chewing certain foods difficult, and a dental bridge can help solve this problem.

Enhanced Appearance

A dental bridge not only fills the gap in your smile but also prevents facial sagging, a common occurrence when you have missing teeth. The bridge supports the contours of your face, enhancing your overall appearance.

Long-Lasting Solution

With proper care and regular dental check-ups, dental bridges can last many years. They offer a long-term solution to missing teeth, providing you with a stable and durable bite. Dental bridges are a worthwhile investment in your oral health and quality of life.

The Dental Bridge Treatment Process

Initial Consultation And Preparation

The first step in getting a dental bridge is an initial consultation with Dr. Golden. He will assess your oral health and determine if a dental bridge is the best solution for you. If it is, the teeth on either side of the gap will be prepared for the bridge. This involves recontouring these teeth by removing a portion of enamel to allow room for a crown to be placed over them.

Impressions And Temporary Bridge

Next, impressions of your teeth are made, which will serve as a model from which the bridge, pontic (false tooth), and crowns will be made by a dental lab. Dr. Golden will make a temporary bridge for you to wear to protect the exposed teeth and gums while your bridge is being made.

Placement Of The Permanent Bridge

Once your dental bridge is ready, the temporary bridge is removed and the new bridge is checked and adjusted to achieve a proper fit. Multiple visits may be necessary to check the fit of the metal framework and bite. This is a critical part of the process as it ensures your comfort and the long-term success of the bridge.
